I am so excited to announce that this year’s Limited Edition Spring Sessions are now open for booking. These spring photo sessions are going to be better than EVER! I will have a TON of Spring props including flowers and other garden items.

These sessions are perfect for children and families! You can even book a session to celebrate Mother’s Day, a child’s spring birthday, or any other special occasion.

This year’s sessions will take place at Red Trabue Nature Reserve in Dublin, Ohio where you can find lush green trees, walking paths, a flower garden, and even a 100-year-old cottage. 20-minute time slots are available on Saturday April 21st and Sunday April 22nd beginning at 4:00 pm until 7:30 pm. You will receive 5 fully edited high resolution digital files and a print release. Limited Edition Spring Sessions are only $125. **See below for a way to save $25 off your session fee**

A great addition to this year’s sessions is the opportunity to schedule online. Simply follow this link to pick your time slot. Once you select your session time, I will email you an invoice which must be paid within 24 hours to keep your spot. This means you don’t have to worry about bringing anything but your beautiful smiling faces to the session.

**BONUS**: This year we have also added the opportunity to SAVE BIG on your session fee by referring your friends and family. If someone you refer books a Limited-Edition Spring Session, you will receive $25 off your session. This person MUST BE a new client to Joyful Moments Photography. Lauren was an absolutely stunning bride last Saturday. Now that the wedding has finally taken place, I can share a few photos from her bridal portrait session that took place about a month ago. Her portraits were taken at Prairie Oaks Metro Park in Hilliard, Ohio.

Photo Tip Tuesday | Dublin, Ohio Photographer

This week’s wardrobe tip is for senior portrait sessions.

  1. Wear something that you are comfortable in. You will be asked to sit, stand, and possibly lay in several different positions and on multiple types of surfaces.
  2. As always, consider your foot wear. Your shoes won’t be in very many photos but they may be in a few so make sure they match your outfit and that they are clean on the top and bottom.
  3. Try to avoid crazy patterns. If you would like to incorporate a pattern into your wardrobe it is best to do so in moderation. For example, a printed scarf.
  4. I don’t recommend bright or neon colors for the main pieces of your outfit but they can be used as a pop of color in a belt, a scarf, or shoes.
  5. If you have selected a package that includes a wardrobe change, I typically recommend something semi-dressy and something more casual.
  6. Consider where you are having your photos taken and the backgrounds that are likely to be in your photos.

Photo Tip Tuesday: What to wear to a photo shoot | Central Ohio Photography

On many occasions clients have asked what I recommend they wear for their session. That is a great question!!!! While I don’t have all the answers I do have a few suggestions.

#1 Wear something comfortable. It is best to wear an outfit that you feel amazing in and that you are comfortable posing in. Keep in mind that your photographer may ask you to sit, stand, or even lay down. (and roll over…I feel like I am asking a dog to do tricks. Haha!)

#2 Avoid baggy or boxy clothing. These items don’t look good in photographs and can often make us look bigger than we are. I’m pretty certain everyone wants to avoid that. I also recommend avoiding stripes and extremely bright/neon colors as they can be a little hard on the eyes.

#3 Keep the location in mind. If you are planning to stand in front of trees and other greenery, I don’t recommend wearing green as you will blend in to the background. Also consider patterns and how they will look with the background you have in mind.

#4 Matchy-Matchy is a no go! While it is a good idea to coordinate outfits for a family photo shoot, gone are the days of all white shirts and khaki pants. The advice I have for group sessions is to pick two or three colors that compliment each other and have each person wear those colors in a different way. Example: Mom wears jeans and a burgundy shirt, dad wears jeans and a white and navy blue plaid shirt, child wears navy blue dress. (I will admit that matching outfits for little girls is still cute and completely acceptable in photographs)

#5 Browse Pinterest. If you have a difficult time coming up with ideas, there is no shortage of them on Pinterest. You will find lots of good suggestions on what colors look good together and how to coordinate outfits. Happy pinning!

Hope this helps!!!
